CRS Graduate Student Fellowships

Each year, the UNM Center for Regional Studies (CRS) invites UNM graduate students to apply for one of its fellowships. After applications have been reviewed by an evaluation committee, award recipients in masters’ programs will receive $5,000 and doctoral fellows will receive $6,000 for the academic year.ـ

Fellowships will be awarded for project-based research that is conducted under the mentorship of a UNM faculty member who holds a tenured or tenure-stream appointment in the department that pertains to the student’s degree program.

Topics and themes of research are open with preference for projects that support degree completion and the student’s graduation timetable.  Priority will be given to topics in the humanities, social sciences, education, and the arts.  Examples of projects include, but are not limited to, theses or dissertations that are in-progress or will commence during the period of the CRS award, as well as research reports, exhibits, or creative works. Projects will need to coincide with or support the mission of the Center for Regional Studies. 

The call for proposals will be posted on this website sometime in March each year.

The maximum allowable number of fellowships from CRS is two.
