Ruben Cobos Collection

Over 500 reel to reel tapes of recordings from Spanish Professor Ruben Cobos; with the unique and priceless "Voces de los Abuelitos - Voices of the Grandparents." The tapes contain local Hispanic folk tales and music that were commonly heard in the last century.

They were recorded from Albuquerque, Belen, Las Cruces, Grants, Las Vegas, Tucumcari, Denver, southern Colorado and tiny places in between. There are even a few from California and Texas. New Mexico's Video History: KNME-TV Albuquerque's Video Archive at the University of New Mexico Center for Southwest Research

710 broadcast quality U-matic and BetaCam videotapes that represent 5 local programming series produced between 1980 and 2005 by the Albuquerque Public Broadcasting System (PBS) affiliate television station, KNME-TV. There are approximately 500 individual program episodes, ranging from 30 to 120 minutes each, as well as a large amount of general stock footage depicting famous people, events and locations in New Mexico.
