New Mexico Newspaper Digitization Project 

Carlsbad Current NewspaperIn 2006, UNM's Center for Southwest Research and Special Collections completed digitization of  the Deming Headlight from January 1890 to June 1901. It has digitized the Eddy Current and the Carlsbad Current from 1886 to 1889. The center has also digitized the Tucumcari News and the Tucumcari Times for 1907. In 2010 New Mexico became part of the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP). Over 100,000 pages of newspapers from around the state have been digitized for that project. The project continues in 2012 as we begin digitizing another 100,000 pages. Digitized newspapers from the NDNP project are available at the Library of Congress website, Chronicling America.
